Cozy charlottesville engagement session
Anytime someone asks, “Hey Ray can we bring our dog to our engagement?” I have to keep it together so I don’t scream, “OH GOD YES PLEASE!!!” But that’s totally what I’m thinking. So in case anyone is curious, let it be known that I would love nothing more than to hang out with you two and your fur babies.
Jamie + Xyan share a love of wine, laughter, mountains, and of course their perfect angel of a dog named Roux. We began their session with sweet snuggles and curling up by the fire in a remote log cabin near Charlottesville, VA. Then, we made the journey towards one of Virginia’s sweetest gems: a mountaintop bald on the Appalachian Trail near Vesuvius, VA. As we approached the trailhead in our vehicles, we noticed a car stuck in the middle of the road and tons of people surrounding it. Curious, we rolled down the windows and asked what was going on. The sedan was stuck sliding on frozen tire tracks from the previous week’s winter storm. We were advised to park further downhill and walk a mile to the trailhead…Jamie and Xyan were so excited to get to the top, they didn’t even mind that extra hiking would be solved. So, that’s exactly what we did.
A few miles and some frozen toes later, we made it to the top of the bald, laughing at the absurdity of it all. Thank goodness for a little champagne pop and the sweetest sunset to warm our hearts and our soul.
Sometimes, things don’t always go as planned. But I’m a firm believer in the wise words of our friend Beyoncé: you gotta make some lemonade (and maybe add a little bubbly!).
